The High-End World of Paris Fashion

If you are looking for shopping in Paris, then the city will not disappoint you. The Golden Triangle, located around Avenue Montaigne, Avenue George V, and the Champs-Élysées, is the location of some of the most well-known fashion institutions in the world. Think Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy. As you walk the streets, you can feel it is a runway with glamorous shop displays and the recent collections.

Le Bon March, which was the first-ever department store in Paris, is another place one must visit. It is like a high-end shop with fashion, accessories, beauty and even gourmet food, all concentrated in one stylish complex. It does not only imply a place to shop but an experience that is embodied with the art of living in Paris.

Discovering Local Boutiques and Hidden Treasures

Paris has more to offer than luxury brands: the city is also world-renowned as far as unique boutiques and concept stores are concerned. Stroll in Le Marais, one of the most fashionable Parisian neighbourhoods, as you weave through the alleys, where many independent sellers offer items as well as very current Parisian styles. Established favourites such as Merci and The Broken Arm carry a carefully selected assemblage of jewellery, fashion, and housewares.

And to top it all off, visit the numerous passageways (covered arcades) in Paris (Passage du Grand Cerf) where you will find unusual shops selling jewellery, antiques and artisan creations. So, these minor discoveries help the shopping in Paris to be more intimate and distinct.

A Mix of Both Worlds

It is one of the greatest things about shopping in Paris that the city is able to combine a high-end fashion industry with a local charm as graciously and harmoniously as possible. You will be free to shop the morning in luxurious stores in Paris on Avenue Montaigne and the morning and visit a vintage market place in Paris like Marché aux Puces de Saint-Ouen, which is one of the largest flea markets in the world.

This is what renders the Parisian shopping thrilling, as you can visit different kinds of stores. Whether it is a designer bag that you are buying or just purchasing handmade jewellery in a small shop, you will always have a feeling that what you have purchased is really Parisian.

Best Time for Shopping in Paris

The best time for shopping in Paris is when the sales seasons (Les Soldes) are going on, typically in January- February (winter sales) and June- July (summer sales). These official windows enable one to purchase luxury fashion together with boutique items at spectacular prices that in some cases can reach up to 70 per cent discount. Otherwise, weekends and evenings are a great time to go out and wander, especially in the neighbourhoods such as Le Marais or Saint Germain des Prés.
